Neff Takes Title at Honorary ‘First Race’ During Visit to zMAX Dragway in Concord, NC
John Force and Mike Neff started their engines. Both lurched closer to the starting line.
Then the flag dropped on the first race at zMAX Dragway @ Concord.
Sure, there was no pavement. There were no Ford Funny Cars.
What they did have were dump trucks and, technically, a track. So the drivers of the NHRA POWERade Series took advantage of it Saturday while on a tour of the facility.
Several of the top drivers of the NHRA POWERade Series are participating in events planned during NASCAR’s Coca-Cola 600 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway this weekend, including defending NHRA POWERade Series world champions...

MILAN, Mich. (March 24, 2008) – Dan Wilkerson (Springfield, Ill.) has made quite a splash in his Nitro Funny Car debut. The son of current NHRA Nitro Funny Car points leader Tim Wilkerson set a provisional IHRA world record during Friday’s qualifying session with a 4.831 pass at 316.01 mph. Despite failing to back up the record, Wilkerson held on to the #1 qualifying spot heading into Sunday’s elimination rounds...

Melanie Troxel defeated top qualifier Mike Neff in the final round of the rain delayed O'Reilly NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals in Bristol, Tennessee. Until tonight, Troxel had yet to win an elimination round during her first season in Funny Car. Mike Neff's car (6.471s E.T. / 146.21 MPH) had trouble at the line and suffered an engine explosion mid track, while Melanie Troxel (5.066s E.T. / 310.27 MPH) pedaled her car and struggled to keep it straight. Troxel becomes the second woman to ever win in the NHRA Funny Car class, following Ashley Force's first victory less than a month ago.
Congratulations Melanie!

Mike Neff and his John Medlen-tuned Old Spice Mustang grabbed the first No. 1 qualifying effort of his 10-race driving career at the O’Reilly NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals in Bristol, Tennessee by holding onto the top spot courtesy of his Friday-night 4.783, but he did get a serious challenge from teammate Robert Hight, who based out a last-session 4.803 that was the quickest run of the day and duplicated his Friday best, but was not enough to deny Neff.

BRISTOL, Tenn. (May 13, 2008) – With the theme of the season being to take it one step at a time for Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane/Custom Accessories Shelby Mustang team, the rookie heads into this weekend’s NHRA race at Bristol Dragway eager to capture his team's first win.
“This weekend is a real important race for us,” said Tasca. “If you look back at the last few races; in Vegas we qualified our season best in the No. 3 position, Atlanta was our best showing with making it to the semi-finals, and St. Louis was hands down our most consistent performance of the season with getting the quickest ET of my career. So you can just see that at each race, we establish a new high point for the program.”
The one step at a time approach has allowed the team to put together a solid collection of data through the first seven races of the season, and to successfully make more and more consistent runs down the track.
