The Sept. 11-14 national event in this year's 2008 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series schedule will be held in Charlotte, N.C., at a new state-of-the-art facility, The Dragway @ Lowe's Motor Speedway, which is being built by Speedway Motorsports Inc. (SMI). The event is the first addition to the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series since 2000 and expands the season to 24 events.

The Government of Canada is going to kill drag racing in this country, industry experts predict.
The pending decision to implement a total and permanent ban on the use of leaded fuels for competition purposes, effective Jan. 1, 2009, will force tracks such as Grand Bend Motorplex and St. Thomas Dragway to close, say their owners.

Martin adds events to 2008 schedule
MARTIN -- The Northern Nationals has been the featured event each summer at the Martin Dragway for many years. But that doesn't mean there isn't room on the schedule for another marquee race.
Officials at the Knoll Gas Motorsports Park at U.S. 131 have released their 2008 schedule, and popular events including the International Hot Rod Association Northern Nationals, the Funny Car Nationals and the Thunder Nationals will return next season.
