Perennial drag racing king John Force, open-wheel racing champion Michael Andretti, and NASCAR legend Buddy Baker will lead a class of seven racing greats into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America when the organization stages its annual induction ceremony Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at the Fillmore Detroit.

NHRA’s Y.E.S. Program Continues to Grow with Three New Partners Added for 2008

NHRA has announced that the Youth & Education Services (Y.E.S) program presented by the U.S. Army is adding these program partners for 2008: the University of Northwestern Ohio, Valvoline, and Caterpillar (CAT).

Created in 1989 as a tool to connect education and drag racing, the Y.E.S program is a one day event held at 15 POWERade Series races. It is motorsports' first and only full-time program devoted exclusively to educational programming. The Y.E.S. program demonstrates to young men and women the variety of career opportunities within motorsports, the U.S. Army and the automotive industry...

Schumacher’s son-in-law bags ‘record’ sponsor for Funny Car effort

Funny Car racer James Day, the son-in-law of mega-team owner Don Schumacher, has landed a major sponsorship deal with rock-n-roll legend Stephen Pearcy and Top Fuel Records. Day and his DLS Motorsports race team will compete at all 24 races with Dave Fletcher and Chris Nance sharing tuning duties.

Pearcy is the front man for the platinum-selling heavy metal rock band Ratt who is continuing his involvement with NHRA Championship Drag Racing after a successful run with Top Fuel driver Clay Millican in 2007. Millican was sidelined indefinitely when his team owner, Evan knoll, scaled back his racing interests...

NHRA: Lowe’s Motor Speedway Added to 2008 POWERade Series Schedule

The Sept. 11-14 national event in this year's 2008 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series schedule will be held in Charlotte, N.C., at a new state-of-the-art facility, The Dragway @ Lowe's Motor Speedway, which is being built by Speedway Motorsports Inc.
