Cruz Pedregon Set to Race in Chili Bowl

Veteran NHRA Funny Car driver Cruz Pedregon will be racing in the 22nd Annual Chili Bowl Midget Nationals this week. This will be Cruz's fourth run in a Midget car at the Chili Bowl.

Cruz will field an All-Star racing team for the 2008 midget race. In addition to the 2002 NHRA Funny Car Champion, sprint car legend Sammy Swindell, NASCAR driver Josh Wise, and World of Outlaws driver Shane Stewart will be driving for the Cruz Pededregon Racing team.

Sammy Swindell is a three time World of Outlaws champion and former NASCAR truck driver. Josh Wise in an accomplished driver earning the 2005 National Midget championship and 2006 USAC National Sprint Car Series championship. Oklahoma sprint car racer Shane Stewart was the 2007 Knoxville 360 Nationals winner and currently races for Roth Motorsports in the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws sprint car series.

The Chili Bowl will be held in Tulsa, Oklahoma, January 8th through the 12th.

POWERade champions crowned and silly season roars to life as year ends

The 2007 POWERade Drag Racing Series roared to a spectacular conclusion in the fourth quarter with Tony Schumacher, Tony Pedregon, Jeg Coughlin, and Matt Smith earning the hardware in their respective categories. The final installment of NHRA.com's year in review points out all the exciting happenings of October, November, and December.

Aside from the four champions being crowned, the final quarter was highlighted by "Hot Rod" Fuller's big double win in his adopted hometown of Las Vegas and Dave Connolly's incredible streak of five victories in a row. Whit Bazemore, Chip Ellis, and Peggy Llewellyn all lost their jobs, while previously dismissed professionals Angelle Sampey, Antron Brown, and Tommy Johnson Jr. all managed to find new rides for 2008.

<> RacingJunk.com®, announced last Friday, at the Performance Racing Industry Show in Orlando Florida, the top prize winners of its $55,000 "Give Back To The Racers Tour 2007". This completes the contest that has been running on RacingJunk.com since March 1, 2007.
The three finalists were all flown to Orlando, FL, all expenses paid by RacingJunk.com®, for the Performance Racing Industry Show which ran December 6th through the 8th. When they arrived at the show they knew they were one of three top vote-getters as determined by RacingJunk.com members but still had yet to learn if they had won $2,500, $7,500 or the grand prize of $15,000.

The winners were awarded by Cruz Pedregon, NHRA Funny Car Champion, and included Gail Whisnant of Newton, NC, grand prize winner, Gene Hinders of Hudson, IA, second place winner and Mary Baltzell of Rancho Mirage, CA, third place winner. Gail walked away with a $15,000 sponsorship, Gene took the $7,500 sponsorship and Mary rounded out the top three taking home the $2,500 sponsorship.
